Salted Caramel Apple Squares

A cozy, make-ahead breakfast or snack that’s soft, fluffy, and cake-like. Made with oat flour, warm cinnamon, tender apples, and Salted Caramel + Chocolate Chips MacroBar® bits folded into the batter. 

Ingredients

  • 2 cups oat flour 
  • 1 tbsp apple pie spice 
  • 2 ¼ tsp baking powder 
  • ¼ tsp fine salt 
  • ½ cup pure maple syrup 
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract 
  • ¾ cup unsweetened applesauce 
  • ¼ cup almond milk  
  • ¼ cup melted coconut oil 
  • 1 ½ cups Honeycrisp apples, peeled and diced into ¼” pieces 
  • ¼ cup old fashioned rolled oats, plus extra for topping 
  • 1 Salted Caramel + Chocolate Chips MacroBar®, torn into small pieces 
  • 9 large dates, for salted caramel  
  • ½ cup canned coconut milk, for salted caramel 
  • ¼ cup hot water, for salted caramel  
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract, for salted caramel 
  • ¼ tsp flaky salt, for salted caramel 

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line 8x8” baking pan with parchment paper.  
  2. Add dry ingredients to a bowl and whisk to combine. Add maple syrup, vanilla, applesauce, almond milk, and oil, then mix to combine. Fold in diced apples, oats, and MacroBar pieces. 
  3. Pour batter into baking pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden on top. 
  4. Let cool in pan for five minutes, then cool completely on a wire rack. While cooling, prepare salted caramel drizzle.  
  5. Blend all ingredients salted caramel ingredients in a food processor until smooth.   
  6. Drizzle caramel over top of cake, slice, serve, and enjoy!
