Pantry Staple Cashew Cream Sauce

This vegan sauce is makes for a great topping to your favorite plant-based meal! Try it on our Creamy Tomato Soup.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cashews, whole
  • 1 cup water, filtered
  • 1/2 tbsp nutritional yeast, optional
  • 1 tsp cumin, optional
  • 1 tsp garlic powder, optional
  • salt, optional, to taste
  • pepper, optional, to taste

Directions

  1. Add 1 cup of cashews and 1 cup of filtered water to a bowl and let soak for 4-6 hours.
  2. Rinse the cashews and replace the soaking water with 1 cup of fresh water.
  3. Add mixture to a high-speed blender or food processor and blend until optimal smoothness is achieved.
  4. For a richer, “cheesier” taste, add cumin, nutritional yeast, garlic powder, salt & pepper, to taste.
