Support the Keep A Breast Foundation This October with Cherries + Berries MacroBars®

2024 marks the eighth consecutive year of GoMacro’s® Give Back partnership with the Keep A Breast Foundation. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a portion of net proceeds from October sales of the Cherries + Berries MacroBar® will be donated to the nonprofit.

Keep A Breast (KAB) is a nonprofit organization on a mission to reduce breast cancer risk and its impact globally through art, education, prevention, and action. Through self-check resources, prevention education, and unique arts and wellness programs, KAB works to build community and empower youth to become their own health advocates.

Our partnership with the organization holds a special place in our hearts as our Co-Founder, Amelia, is a breast cancer survivor. In fact, Amelia created the first MacroBar recipe during her healing journey as a result of the need for a delicious treat that suited her new dietary needs. Because of her battle, it became GoMacro’s mission to inspire others to have a healthy body, sharp mind, and bold spirit.

Fighting Breast Cancer

While you may have seen Keep A Breast’s iconic “i love boobies!” merch, KAB actually started as a creative organization that utilized art to raise community support and awareness around breast cancer. In the years since, KAB has grown into a first-of-its-kind prevention-education organization. Today, they offer a wide variety of programs that support their mission...

  • Check Yourself offers digestible breast health education through printed materials, blogs, and the KAB app.
  • KAB Give Back Grants directly support BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) women who are breast cancer survivors or who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
  • KAB App offers free, breast self-check guides and can connect users with health professionals.
  • Treasured Chest Program combines artistry with therapy using breast casts to confront both physical and emotional changes that a breast cancer diagnosis brings.
  • Fit 4 Prevention is a national movement to educate about breast cancer prevention through fitness and wellness.
  • Non-Toxic Revolution works to inform, educate, and inspire young people to avoid toxic chemicals in their environment and food supply—especially those linked to the initiation of breast cancer.
  • KAB Valley is a conceptual wellness retreat center for breast cancer survivors with a vision to inspire a community of peer support and an integrated approach to healing for all visitors.
  • Educating & Empowering Young People

Through her involvement in breast cancer outreach, KAB founder Shaney jo Darden realized that no one was truly reaching young people with the necessary breast cancer education and support. In response, she developed a unique series of educational programs specifically designed to reach youth “in their comfort zones” -- something that had previously not been done.

Today, KAB’s model assumes that young people are articulate, critical, and ready to establish their identities through meaningful action. KAB communities are defined by the contributions of young people, and their interactive programs are created to operate on the cultural level of today’s teens and 20-somethings.
