Maple Baked Pears

Pear halves coated with maple syrup and chai spices, baked until soft and caramelized, and topped with a warm crumble made from Maple Sea Salt MacroBars.

Ingredients

  • 2 large Bosc pears, ripe but firm
  • 2 tbsp melted dairy-free butter, or coconut oil
  • 4 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • ⅛ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ tsp ground cardamom
  • ⅛ tsp groundginger
  • ⅛ tsp ground cloves
  • ¹⁄₁₆ tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp old fashioned oats
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped pecans
  • 1 Maple Sea Salt MacroBar

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line an 8-by-8-inch or 8-by-11-inch baking dish with parchment, or lightly grease it. Halve and core the pears, then arrange them in the dish.
2. Whisk together the melted dairy-free butter, maple syrup, and spices. Brush the mixture over both sides of the pears, reserving 1-2 teaspoons for the crumble. Turn the pears cut-side down and bake for 20 minutes.
3. Meanwhile, finely chop or crumble the MacroBar and combine it with the oats, pecans, and reserved maple mixture.
4. Flip the pears cut-side up and spoon any maple mixture from the dish over them. Divide the crumble among the centers and bake for another 15 to 20 minutes, until tender and caramelized. Serve warm with dairy-free ice cream or whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon on top.
