In the midst of 2020's many challenges, the power of community, resilience, and kindness has never been more evident.
"Give Back" is one of the five principles that GoMacro is built on. We believe that practicing generosity creates a chain reaction of world-changing goodness, and thanks to your support, we've had the opportunity to help build stronger, healthier communities, support workers at the frontlines of the pandemic, make a positive impact on the planet. Here are just a few of the many ways you've helped us make a difference this year, one bite at a time.
Donating 250,000 MacroBars to Frontline Workers
Many brave healthcare workers are still on the front lines combating the spread of COVID-19. It's critical to support those who are giving selflessly to keep our communities safe and healthy. That's why GoMacro donated 250,000 MacroBars to the frontline and essential workers across the country. We believe we all have a part to play, and we're grateful for the opportunity to provide nourishment and fuel for healthcare workers.
Feeding Those in Need
Year-round, a percentage of annual net proceeds from our Coconut + Almond Butter + Chocolate Chips MacroBar go to Feeding San Diego.
Feeding San Diego is a branch of the national organization, Feeding America, which works to feed America's hungry through food rescue and a nationwide network of member food banks. With many schools closed and many families facing unemployment due to the pandemic, Feeding San Diego stepped in to help provide over 31.2 million meals to children, families, seniors, and other underserved populations in the past year.
Helping End Family Homelessness
Our Everlasting Joy MacroBar supports Solutions for Change, which also receives a percentage of annual net proceeds from our Coconut + Almond Butter + Chocolate Chips MacroBar. This year, GoMacro kicked off their #GivingTuesdayNow campaign in May with a donation toward their mission to end the cycle of homelessness.
Of the 600,000 people in the United States that are homeless, over 40% are families. These families face unique needs that aren't always served adequately by existing programs. Solutions for Change creates access to opportunities and equips families with the skills, knowledge, and resources needed to help permanently end the cycle of homelessness – a mission that's more important now than ever before.
Promoting a Compassionate, Plant-Based Lifestyle
A portion of net proceeds from May sales of our Protein Replenishment MacroBars is donated to Farm Sanctuary.
Farm Sanctuary promotes laws and policies that support animal welfare, animal protection, and veganism through rescue, education, and advocacy. Using a compassionate approach, they've educated millions of people on the negative impacts of factory farming on health, the planet, and social justice. They also lead the charge in advocating for laws and policies that promote animal welfare to bring about institutional reforms in both the political and business realms. Protecting Wildlife & Preserving Habitat
This year we established our first international give back partnership. A portion of the net proceeds from August sales of our Double Chocolate + Peanut Butter Chips MacroBar is shared with the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.
Best known for its Orphan's Project, the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is the first and most successful elephant orphan rescue and rehabilitation program in the world. Established more than 40 years ago, the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is a pioneering conservation organization dedicated to the protection of wildlife and preservation of habitats in East Africa.
Providing Breast Cancer Prevention Education
For five years and counting, a percentage of net proceeds from October Sales of our Cherries + Berries MacroBar is donated to the Keep A Breast Foundation in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month
This partnership holds a special place in our hearts as our co-founder, Amelia, is a breast cancer survivor, and it's our mission to inspire others to have a healthy body, sharp mind, and bold spirit. The Keep A Breast Foundation promotes breast health awareness and education among young people by approaching the topic in a manner they understand and connect with. They also promote healthier living through programs including Fit4Prevention and the Non-Toxic Revolution, which encourages people to choose products that are free of toxic chemicals.
Bringing 100% Renewable Energy to Our Community
In August, after months of planning, the entire village of Viola, Wisconsin, where GoMacro is headquartered, officially became 100% renewably powered! In the first known arrangement of its kind in the country, GoMacro is covering the additional costs of renewable energy credits for the entire municipality, effectively subsidizing the use of renewable energy for all Viola households, businesses, and schools. We're very grateful for the opportunity to extend our sustainability goals outside our doors and share the power of renewable energy with our neighbors.
